Unknown gunmen, this afternoon, abducted a man while shopping at a mall on Plymouth road in Benin, Edo State capital.
The incident happened close to Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, venue of the ongoing National Sports Festival, tagged Edo 2020.
AONE News learnt that the gunmen, numbering four, trailed their victim to the store and accosted him as he was leaving after making his purchases.
The shop owner, who identified herself simply as Sandra, told AONE News that the victim, who appeared to be in his late fifties, was trying to put the stuff he bought in the boot of his green coloured Toyota Sienna when four well-dressed men, who had pretended to be customers, suddenly brought out guns from the bag one of them was carrying.
“They then started firing into the air, while one of them shouted at me to get inside the shop as they had no business with me. They subsequently bundled the man into his own car and drove off,” she further stated.
The incident left traders and shoppers in panic, with many of the traders, including Sandra, locking up their shops and closing for the day.
