Bosede Afolabi, a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Lagos, has been awarded a research grant of ₦958,908,975.50 ($2,518,474.00) by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Professor Afolabi, whose project is titled Intravenous Versus Oral Iron for Iron Deficiency Anaemia in Pregnant Nigerian Women (IVON), is renowned for her research in sickle cell pregnancy.
She is also a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists UK, West African College of Surgeons, and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
