A former head of Mitv/Star FM Ibadan, Elder Kayode Bamiduro, has made a passionate appeal to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to approve the payment of outstanding furniture allowances of former political appointees approved by the immediate past Governor of the state, late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Bamiduro, who was also a former Special Assistant on Media to late Governor Ajimobi, made the appeal in a statement in Ibadan, today.
According to Bamiduro, the appeal became necessary in view of the delay in the payment of the said allowances, despite several representations made to the Governor by the affected former political appointees.
He said he was moved to appeal for the payment of the money because of his past relationship with Governor Makinde, having been part of the media team that worked tirelessly for him during his 2015 governorship campaign.
Aside that, Bamiduro said the allowance in question was part of the appointees’ statutory entitlements, which Governor Makinde has already paid to his own appointees as stipulated by the law.
“GSM (Governor Seyi Makinde) is somebody I know to be very kind-hearted and generous to people, regardless of political affiliations. Beside, he is a very considerate person, who will not ordinarily hurt anyone or deprive people of their lawful entitlements”, the veteran journalist stated.
Bamiduro noted that “in politics there are no permanent enemies or friends. We meet to part and part to meet. Nobody knows what would happen in 2023”.
He further disclosed that he was one of the people that advised Governor Makinde in 2015 not to contest under SDP in the 2019 election, because the party was not well known despite the fact that Makinde as an individual enjoys enormous goodwill among the people of the state.
While appealing to Makinde to put aside politics and pay the allowances to the affected former aides of the late Ajimobi, he reminded the Governor that such steps would reaffirm his status as a non vindictive and compassionate leader, especially in the light of the fact that he has paid same to his own appointees.
Bamiduro commisirated with the Governor over the death of his political Ally, Engr. Lere Adigun of Sahara Engineering Company, and also prayed for God’s guidance for him in the day to day running of his administration.
