Toyota Australia has issued a recall for 2714 vehicles across the 2019 model-year LandCruiser Prado, HiAce and HiAce Commuter model lines, over concerns of a fuel leak.
The Japanese manufacturer reports a production fault may cause the fuel inlet pipe that connects the diesel fuel injector common rail may not be secured with a “lower than specified tightening torque”, which “may allow fuel leakage”.
“If fuel leaks from the fuel inlet pipe, the engine may stall and increase the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users,” Toyota says in its recall notice.
Sale dates and number of affected units by model line are as follows:
- LandCruiser Prado (1899 vehicles) – 8 April 2019 to 27 September 2019
- HiAce (576 vehicles) – 28 May 2019 to 27 September 2019
- HiAce Commuter (239 vehicles) – 29 May 2019 to 27 September 2019
The VIN list for all affected vehicles (2714 total) is accessible here.
Owners of the recalled Toyota models will be contacted via mail “once parts become available”, and requested to schedule an appointment with their preferred dealer to replace the fuel pipe, free of charge.
